What the size dots mean
Every Aeron is marked with small raised dots on the back frame: one dot for Size A, two for Size B and three for Size C. If you are replacing an Aeron you already own, feel for the dots and order the same size. Size B fits most adults; A suits smaller frames and C gives taller, broader users more room.
Who this chair is for
This fully loaded Aeron is perfect for professionals, remote workers and anyone who demands the best in posture support. If you spend long hours at your desk, it gives you the critical forward tilt and arm adjustments needed to prevent fatigue, and it is ready for immediate home or office use.
Why buy it from OfficeLogixShop
We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality refurbished Aerons on the market. While others may cut corners, we completely disassemble and inspect every chair, replace worn parts, reassemble it like new and put it through final ergonomic testing. Our certified refurbished process means it leaves our hands looking and performing like new: a premium experience at a price our competitors cannot match for this level of quality.
A chair you can keep for decades
Part of the Classic's appeal is that it can be repaired rather than replaced. This page includes our step-by-step videos for the common fixes, from a sinking gas cylinder to seat and back mesh, arm pads and tilt parts, and we stock the parts for each. You can upgrade the lumbar later on, or add head support with the best ergonomic Aeron headrest, designed by a US engineering team for the Classic.

Herman Miller Aeron Classic price vs a new Aeron
The fully loaded Herman Miller Aeron Classic, restored in Ohio, for under $600.
Herman Miller discontinued the Aeron Classic in 2016. The new price shown is for the current Aeron (the Remastered), the model Herman Miller sells today in its place.
The Aeron Classic made Herman Miller a fixture in offices worldwide, and everything from its frame to the Pellicle mesh and tilt is built for years of daily use. We swap out what wears, check every control and keep the price low, so you get the real Aeron experience for a fraction of a new one. Set up the way ours are, with fully adjustable arms, adjustable back support and a tilt limiter, a new Aeron costs even more. Compared with other premium refurbished Aerons, you get the same quality of refurbishing at a lower starting price.
From the box to a chair that fits you
Written steps with photos are in our illustrated guides for the lumbar pad version, the PostureFit version and the headrest.
Choose your Aeron Classic
Three choices make the chair yours: the size (the dots on the back frame), the back support and the mesh color. Here is how each configuration looks. The headrest version comes with black mesh and the lumbar pad; for any other Size B or C setup, you can add our headrest separately.

Lumbar pad or PostureFit?
The lumbar pad is a cushion that slides up and down the back and presses into the curve of your lower back. It is reversible, with a firmer side and a softer side, so you can tune how much you feel it.
PostureFit sits lower, at the base of your spine, and supports the pelvis so your lower back keeps its natural curve on its own. If you tend to slide forward or slouch by the afternoon, PostureFit is usually the better choice. If you like support you can place exactly where you want it, choose the pad.
Buying a used Herman Miller Aeron: 4 questions to ask
Herman Miller built the Aeron to be serviced, so a well refurbished one sits and adjusts like the day it was made. Four questions separate it from a tired used chair.
1. Were the wear parts replaced, or only cleaned?
The parts that wear out on an Aeron are predictable: the gas cylinder that holds your height, the casters, the arm pads and the lumbar support. These are the parts we replace as a matter of routine, and anything else that shows wear is replaced as needed. A chair that has only been wiped down still carries its old cylinder and pads.
2. Was it tested as a working chair?
Every adjustment should be checked with someone sitting in it: height, tilt tension, tilt lock, forward tilt and the arms. Our technical team gives each chair a final ergonomic test and calibrates it before it ships, so it arrives set up to suit most users.
3. Does it come with a warranty?
A used Aeron bought second-hand or from a private seller usually comes with no warranty at all, so you buy it at your own risk: if the tilt mechanism, cylinder or arms give out, the repair is on you. Our refurbished Aeron Classic comes with a 5-year mechanical warranty. For more information, check our Returns and Refunds policy.
4. Will parts and help be there later?
An Aeron can stay in service for decades as long as parts remain available. We make and stock the common Aeron Classic parts and film the repairs ourselves, so a worn part later is a small fix rather than a new chair. You will find every repair further down this page.
Classic vs Remastered. The Classic uses a single-tension Pellicle mesh and costs less. The Remastered, the 2016 redesign, adds zoned 8Z Pellicle mesh and redesigned arms. See the side-by-side comparison on our Aeron Remastered page.

Herman Miller Aeron Classic: your questions answered
Is a refurbished Aeron worth it compared with a new budget ergonomic chair?
For most people who sit for long hours, yes. Generic office chairs use cheap foam that flattens in months. The Aeron uses patented Pellicle suspension that distributes your weight evenly and never creates heat buildup, and its parts can be replaced one by one, so it keeps working instead of being thrown away. A refurbished Aeron from us is a commercial-grade asset that holds its value and is fully repairable for decades, at a fraction of the new price.
Can I switch from the lumbar pad to PostureFit later?
Yes, on Size B and C chairs. You can easily swap your lumbar pad for advanced PostureFit SL style support with our conversion kit: its patent-pending adapter clips onto the Aeron frame and is fixed with screws, with no drilling. Our PostureFit Classic compatible kit fits Size B and C chairs too, and the lumbar pad is sold on its own if you want to go the other way.
Can I add a headrest later?
Yes. The Aeron was originally designed without a headrest, so we engineered the OfficeLogixShop headrest specifically for the Classic in Sizes B and C. It matches the mesh and frame color perfectly and clamps securely to the back frame, no tools needed. Because it doesn't damage or alter the chair and comes off again, it won't void your warranty.
How can I tell an Aeron Classic from an Aeron Remastered?
Look at the back mesh. On the Remastered you can usually see subtle bands where the weave changes tension (the 8Z Pellicle), while the Classic mesh looks the same from top to bottom. The label under the seat also shows the build date: Classics were made until 2016. It matters when you buy parts, because most seat, back and mechanism parts are not interchangeable between the two.
How long does an Aeron Classic last?
Aerons from the 1990s are still in daily use, because the frame and mechanism are built for years of full-time office work and the parts that wear can be replaced. Keep the casters clean, fix a sinking cylinder or a torn mesh when it happens, and it keeps working for decades. The repair section above covers every common fix.
Where is the best place to buy a refurbished Herman Miller Aeron?
From a specialist that restores rather than resells. Unlike general liquidators who simply wipe chairs down, OfficeLogixShop is a specialized refurbishment engineering house: we don't just resell, we restore. Every Aeron passes our rigorous 9-point inspection, and because we make our own compatible parts, we replace components that other sellers ignore. That is why we are considered the leader in refurbished Aeron chairs, and we stand behind our restoration work so you get years of reliable performance and peace of mind.
Should I choose Aeron Size B or Size C?
Size B, the medium frame, fits most adults. Size C is the large frame: its seat is 18½" deep against 17" on the B, and the chair is 28¼" wide against 27", so it suits taller, broader users. If you are of average height and build, Size C can feel too big and B is usually the better fit. Size A is the small frame. To match a chair you already have, check the dots on its back frame, and our size video above walks you through the choice.
