Will this work on post-2004 Aeron Classic chairs?

No, it is only for converting pre-2004 thumbwheel arms. It does not fit existing factory flip lever chairs.

Do I need to remove the chair back to install this?

Yes, you must unbolt the 4 back screws to access the arm assembly.

Why do I need to be careful when tightening the bolt?

Overtightening makes the lever too stiff to move. Tighten gently for smooth operation.

Are the left and right levers different?

Yes, they are labeled 'L' and 'R' and must be installed on the correct sides.

Great upgrade for Aeron with thumb wheels

The flip knob lever kit was fairly easy to install after watching the online video. It has stopped my arm rests from dropping when using the chair and makes them much easier to adjust when I need to.

This terrific kit made me glad my Aeron chair arm fell off!

I’ve had my Aeron chair over 28 years. A few weeks ago an arm fell off while I was adjusting the arm height and tightening the old thumb wheel lock. Not surprised, because one of the most annoying things for years has been having to constantly re-adjust and tighten both arms repeatedly, several times a week.

No more! The Flip-Knob conversion kit made it easy not only to repair my chair but to replace both of the old thumbscrews. Once adjusted, both arms stay put. Neither arm has slipped at all in nearly two weeks.

My only regret is that I didn’t find this kit years ago. Thanks!

Exactly what I needed

I wasn’t sure how I was going to fix my Aeron from 2000 when one of the knobs broke. I stumbled on this kit searching for parts and figured I’d give it a try… it works perfectly, and I like the levers a lot better than the knobs.

We did need more tools than the video indicated, though. It only mentioned one hex bit, but the chair back screws and the replacement parts needed 2 different sized hex bits, and the screws in the old knobs need a Torx bit.

Great upgrade from the older wheel lock mechanism

Great upgrade, works as advertised. Does take a slight bit of skill and tools to install, but the installation video provides the procedure. Might take a couple tries to get the tension correct, but it's easy to adjust once installed.

Excellent parts

Great replacement for the original thumbwheels; so good that I ordered a second kit for another Aeron I have. One problem was getting the right tension on both arms, so I recommend trying to wiggle the arms before putting the back on (it took me three tries to get the tension right). The video also should mention that the original parts need a T27 torx bit to get them off; a 5mm hex works to remove the chair back and install the new kit. It probably would be much wiser to recommend using manual hex and torx keys than to use a power drill/driver (as shown in the instruction video) so as to not don't ruin the bolts or strip the chair back holes.
