Refurbished Herman Miller Mirra 1 Task Chair
The Herman Miller Mirra chair combines proven engineering with adjustability that adapts to your body. Authentic Herman Miller Mirra chair under $450: get proven ergonomics, fully and professionally refurbished by OfficeLogixShop and ready to ship.
This is the first-generation Mirra, often called the Mirra 1 or Mirra V1, designed for Herman Miller by Studio 7.5 in Germany. Since Herman Miller discontinued new production, professionally renewed chairs fully refurbished by OfficeLogixShop are your only route to getting this design at a reasonable price.
What to Expect: Fully refurbished chairs may show minor cosmetic imperfections but are tested to ensure all adjustments work properly.
Who This Chair Fits
Perfect for budget-conscious professionals, students setting up home offices, and anyone who wants genuine Herman Miller quality without spending over a thousand dollars. This affordable Mirra chair delivers solid ergonomics at a price that makes sense. It comes in one size: the FlexFront seat edge and the sliding lumbar support do the fitting.
What Makes the Mirra Special
TriFlex Back Technology
Three zones that flex independently as you move. Instead of a rigid backrest that pushes against your spine uniformly, the Herman Miller Mirra chair's back responds to your body's natural movements throughout the day.
AireWeave Suspension Seat
Promotes airflow and distributes weight evenly. The suspended fabric prevents that sweaty feeling you get with foam seats during long work sessions.
FlexFront Seat Edge
Adjusts to reduce pressure behind your knees. You can slide the front of the seat forward or back to match your leg length, eliminating that cutting sensation.
Dynamic Lumbar Support
Maintains spinal alignment without rigid pressure points. You can adjust the lumbar height to hit your lower back's natural curve, making a real difference for shorter or taller users.
Adjustment Points That Matter
This affordable Mirra chair gives you control over the parts of the chair that actually affect comfort. Here is what each control does, and where Herman Miller put it on the Mirra 1:
- Seat height sets your feet flat on the floor. The tab sits next to the tilt tension knob, lower right: lift it while seated to go down, or with your weight off the seat to come up.
- Adjustable armrests raise or lower to support your forearms at keyboard height without hunching your shoulders. Lift the tab on the outside base of each arm, move the arm, then press the tab down to lock it.
- FlexFront seat edge moves forward or back. Squeeze the handle under the front of the seat, set the edge, and let go to lock it.
- Lumbar height adjustment slides up or down. Move the levers on the lumbar bar up to loosen it, then slide it to the height you want.
- Tilt tension and limiter control how much resistance you feel when leaning back and how far the chair reclines. The tension knob sits below the right front of the seat (clockwise for a firmer recline); the limiter is the upright tab on the left front.
- TriFlex back zones respond independently, so there is nothing to set: the back works on its own.

Herman Miller Mirra 1 price vs a new Mirra 2
The original Herman Miller Mirra, the Mirra 1, for far less than a new Mirra 2 costs.

Herman Miller no longer sells the original Mirra new, so we compare against the Mirra 2 that replaced it.
Our price buys the same ergonomic engineering, adjustability and build quality that made Herman Miller famous, at an accessible price, so you can work comfortably every day.

Herman Miller Mirra 1 vs 2: the differences, and which one to buy
On this page you are buying a Mirra 1, priced as a Mirra 1. Our side-by-side video walks through the key differences, and the notes below show how to recognize the original and when the Mirra 2 is worth the extra.
How to recognize a Mirra 1
- The spine is bolted on. Two exposed bolts fix it to the back, and two more hold it to the seat base. On a Mirra 2 the spine looks like one piece with the back, inside a smooth oval frame.
- Big bolts at the hips. The seat joins the arms with large, visible bolts; the Mirra 2 hides its bolts under plastic covers.
- A larger tilt housing. The box under the seat measures about 3 to 4 inches, against roughly 2 to 2½ inches on a Mirra 2.
- Foam at the seat front. Press the front edge and you feel padding, and the FlexFront handle under it is bigger too.
- Smooth arm levers. The arm height tabs have no ridges; the Mirra 2 tabs are ridged and click.
Our Mirra 1 vs Mirra 2 guide goes through each detail.
Which one should you buy?
Herman Miller calls the Mirra 2's TriFlex back "a significant enhancement" over the original's, and Herman Miller also made the Mirra 2 with its Butterfly back. If those refinements matter to you, our renewed Mirra 2 is the step up. If you want the Mirra design for the least money, stay with the Mirra 1: it costs less, and it carries a 5-year mechanical warranty against 2 years on our Mirra 2.
Mirra 1 parts: common wear points and the part that fixes each
The Mirra 1 is no longer made new, yet keeping one going is simple: we sell the parts that wear, and our tutorials walk through the common repairs.

Mirra 1 buyer questions
Is the Herman Miller Mirra 1 a good chair?
Yes, especially if you like a back that flexes with you instead of a padded one. One tall verified buyer says it has been "very supportive all around". If you want a thick, cushioned backrest, a padded chair such as our Steelcase Leap V2 will suit you better.
Mirra 1 or Aeron: which suits me?
The Aeron Classic is made in three sizes, with mesh on the seat and the back. The Mirra 1 comes in one size, pairs a flexing TriFlex polymer back with an AireWeave seat, and lets you change the seat depth with its FlexFront edge. It also costs less. If you would rather have a chair matched to your body size, look at our Aeron Classic.
Is a used Mirra 1 a better deal?
Usually not. A used Mirra 1 from a private seller tends to come with no warranty, so a sinking cylinder or a failed tilt is yours to fix, at your own risk. Ours goes through our full restoration before it ships and is covered by a 5-year mechanical warranty.
What is the difference between Black Mesh, Black and Brown?
Black has the open TriFlex polymer back with its pattern of slots. Black Mesh and Brown have a fitted mesh cover over that same back, so it looks solid; Black Mesh pairs it with a gray seat and Brown with a brown seat. Blue, Orange and Tan are the open back in color, and one buyer found the orange more brownish than bright.
Can I add a headrest?
Yes. Our headrest for the Mirra 1 is on pre-order, and the Mirra 1 and headrest bundle costs less than buying the two separately.
When did Herman Miller stop making the Mirra 1?
Herman Miller introduced the Mirra 2 in 2013, and a 2014 Herman Miller FAQ set fall 2015 as the target for retiring the original Mirra.
Do you ship the Mirra 1 outside the US?
Yes. Shipping costs nothing to any address in the contiguous 48 states, and for the rest of the world we offer the best international rate we can arrange.
