Amia or Leap V2?
Both are genuine Steelcase chairs we renew to the same standard. The Amia's LiveLumbar is built into the back, and its arms move up and down.
The Leap V2 adds LiveBack support higher up the spine and arms that move in four directions. If you want Steelcase comfort with fewer controls to learn, and at a lower price, the Amia is the easy choice. Our Amia vs Gesture vs Leap V2 comparison goes into more detail.

Steelcase Amia Platinum Frame Price vs New
Steelcase sells a new Amia for $1,099 on its own store. This renewed platinum-frame Amia starts at $454, which leaves about $645 (58%) in your pocket.
Platinum costs nothing extra here: our platinum-frame and black-frame Amias start at the same price. The frame, the mechanism and the LiveLumbar back are the original Steelcase parts.
The Steelcase Amia Platinum Frame, Up Close
Platinum is the light metallic finish on this Amia's back frame, arms and base.
Picking a fabric for it
A light frame changes how the colors read. Black and Gray give a crisp, two-tone contrast; Tan keeps the whole chair soft and light; Blue, Green, Orange and Red stand out more against platinum than they do against black. All eight options are pictured further down this page.
This Platinum Amia or a New One from Steelcase?
Where the two differ, and where they are the same chair.
| What you get | This renewed Amia | New, from Steelcase's store |
|---|---|---|
| Frame finish | Platinum | Black, Merle or Seagull |
| Price | From $454 | $1,099 |
| Seat and back upholstery | New, fitted by us | New |
| Cylinder, arm pads, casters | New, fitted during our renewal | New |
| LiveLumbar back and mechanism | Steelcase originals, inspected and tested | Steelcase originals |
| Warranty | 5-year mechanical | 12-year multi-shift |
The trade is simple: a new chair buys you a longer factory warranty; this one gives you the same professional-grade ergonomics for less than half the price.
How to Adjust Your Platinum Amia
Work through these settings from the floor up, then fine-tune them while seated.
- Height (16" to 21"). Feet flat, knees about level with your hips. Take your weight off the seat to raise it; sit and pull the lever to lower it.
- Depth (a 3-inch slide). Leave two or three fingers of space between the seat edge and the back of your knee.
- Lumbar (6¼" to 10" above the seat). Slide it until the firmest part of the back meets the small of your back. LiveLumbar's spring then keeps up with you as you shift.
- Recline. The seat and back tilt together from 100° to 120°. Use the tension knob to make leaning back lighter or firmer, and the upright lock when you want to stay put for typing.
- Arms (a 4-inch range). Press the button under the arm cap and set them so your forearms rest level with your shoulders relaxed.
Two things need no setting at all: the flexible front edge of the seat gives about 1½ inches when you lean forward, and the seat's adaptive bolstering shapes itself to you.
Premium Ergonomics Without the Premium Price
Industrial Cleaning & Refinishing
Every platinum frame receives professional cleaning and touch-up paint where needed to restore the original metallic finish and remove any wear marks.
LiveLumbar & Mechanism Testing
We inspect and test the LiveLumbar system, the reclining mechanism and all adjustment controls to ensure smooth operation and proper support.
Complete Component Replacement

Steelcase Amia Platinum Frame: Your Questions
What does renewed or refurbished mean for this platinum Amia chair?
OfficeLogixShop restores every Amia to near-new operation. We thoroughly clean and touch up the platinum frame, calibrate the mechanisms, and replace the fabric, arm pads, cylinder and casters with new parts, so the chair looks and performs as it should.
How much do I actually save with a restored Amia?
A new Amia is $1,099 on Steelcase's store. This one starts at $454, so you keep the same ergonomic benefits and durable build for less than half the new price.
Does Steelcase still sell the Amia with a platinum frame?
Not on its own store: when we checked on October 22, 2026, the Amia frame colors there were Black, Merle and Seagull. Some dealers still sell it new on a platinum frame, at about $1,099.
Can I add a headrest to the Amia?
We do not offer a headrest for the Amia: our Leap V2 headrest fits the Leap V2 only. If neck support matters to you, see our Leap V2 with headrest bundle.
Can I get leather on the platinum frame?
Yes. Black Leather is one of the eight options on this page and costs a little more than fabric. For brown leather, see our brown leather Amia on a platinum frame.
Is this chair right for home offices and corporate teams?
Yes. It suits anyone who spends long hours at a desk: at home, running a business or in a corporate office. The platinum frame gives it a clean, professional look that clients and colleagues notice.
Does OfficeLogixShop include a warranty?
Yes: a 5-year mechanical warranty from us. An Amia bought second-hand usually comes with none.
Will the Amia fit a tall, short or heavier person?
Steelcase rates the Amia for up to 400 lbs, and the refurbished chair keeps that rating: the frame and mechanism are the originals. The seat rises from 16" to 21" and slides 3 inches in depth, so you can set it for shorter or longer legs; the dimensions table above has the rest.
