How to Replace the Seat Foam and Fabric on The Steelcase Leap V2 Chair?

Tools Required:

  • Leap V2 Seat
  • Long Flathead screwdriver (20 inches or longer recommended)

Removing the Seat:

Preparing the Chair:

  • Ensure the seat is fully pushed back. Flip the chair over to access the underside of the seat.

Disengaging the Seat Lock:

  • Use the long Flathead screwdriver to press the button underneath the seat. This button acts as a stopper, preventing the seat from sliding out.

Removing the Seat:

  • Slide the seat out from the chair frame once the lock is disengaged.

Disassembling the Seat:

Unscrewing the Base:

  • Remove all visible screws from the bottom of the seat. This will likely include screws securing the plastic cover.

Removing the Plastic Cover:

  • Carefully take off the plastic cover to reveal additional components and screws.

Releasing the Seat Height Adjustment Mechanism:

  • Detach the seat height adjustment mechanism from its clips. Handle this part delicately to avoid damage. Reattach any parts that may become detached during this process.

Replacing the Foam and Fabric:

Preparing the New Seat Part:

  • Obtain the replacement part complete with new foam and fabric. Insert the metal part that was saved from the original seat.

Securing the Height Adjustment Mechanism:

  • Hook the seat height adjustment mechanism back into the clips, ensuring it is firmly in place.

Reassembling the Seat:

  • Position the newly covered seat part back onto the chair's base. Securely fasten it with the screws you removed earlier.

Installing the Seat:

Aligning the Rails:

  • Carefully align the rails on the chair with the guides on the underside of the seat.

Inserting the Seat:

  • Slide the seat onto the rails, ensuring it clicks into place and slides smoothly.
