Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if my Leap V2 needs a top activated or side activated cylinder?

Take the cylinder out and look at the top. A top activated cylinder has a button right in the center that gets pushed down from above. A side activated one has a metal plate that triggers from the side.

Do I have to remove the seat to install the top activated cylinder?

Yes. Unlike the side activated version, replacing the top activated cylinder requires you to remove the seat pad to access the mechanism properly.

What should I do if my chair keeps going up or down by itself after installing the new cylinder?

This means the cylinder pin is over activated. You can easily fix this by using an Allen wrench to loosen the set screw inside the mechanism until the seat stops moving on its own. If it does not go up when you pull the lever, you need to tighten the pin.

Why is my chair sinking during the day?

A sinking chair means the seals inside your original gas shock have failed and are leaking pressure. Installing this heavy duty replacement cylinder will completely resolve the sinking issue.
