Steelcase Gesture Gas Cylinder Replacement (Top Activated) by OfficeLogixShop

Restore smooth and reliable height control to your Steelcase Gesture chair with this premium top-activated gas cylinder. Designed to deliver consistent seat height adjustment, this pneumatic shock brings back the dependable day-to-day performance your chair was built for.

Important Note: This cylinder fits ONLY Steelcase Gesture chairs that use a top activated lever. It is not compatible with side or cable-activated systems. Please compare your chair's mechanism before purchasing.

Why Replace Your Top Activated Cylinder?

When a gas lift wears out, your chair will begin to sink or lose its fluid motion. Replacing a failing cylinder with our heavy duty unit restores the controlled support needed for a healthy posture during long work sessions. It is a highly cost-effective way to save your premium ergonomic chair without buying a completely new one.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my Steelcase Gesture has a top activated cylinder?

Look at the top of the cylinder under the seat. If it has a button in the center pressed from above, it is top activated. If it has a side plate or a cable, this cylinder will not fit.

Do I need to remove the seat on my Steelcase Gesture to replace this cylinder?

Yes. For the top activated cylinder on the Gesture chair, you must remove the seat to properly access the mechanism and swap the part out.

Why does my Steelcase Gesture chair keep sinking?

Your chair sinks because the internal seals inside the original gas cylinder have worn out and lost pressure. Installing this heavy duty replacement will fix the sinking issue permanently.

What tools are required to replace the Gesture gas cylinder?

You will need basic hand tools to remove the seat, along with a heavy duty pipe wrench to twist the old cylinder loose from the chair mechanism, and a rubber mallet to knock it out of the base.
