If the mesh on your Mirra seat has sagged or torn, or the seat pan has worn out, this is the fix that keeps the chair. A genuine Herman Miller Mirra 1 Flex Front seat, professionally renewed and inspected, in the standard graphite finish. Don't start with a power drill. Break the tension on each bolt by hand with a T40 tool first. Starting with a drill is the leading cause of stripped hardware on this job.
How the Mirra seat replacement works
- Loosen the bolts by hand with the T40 tool and remove the old seat.
- Unbolt the Flex Front mechanism from the old seat.
- Fit the mechanism to the renewed seat with the provided screws.
- Mount the seat back on the chair.
The installation guide video further down shows every step. Not sure whether your Mirra has Flex Front? Look for a front seat edge that adjusts for depth; Fixed Front seats don't move.
Replacing the Mirra 1 Flex Front seat
Whole seat, seat foam or the Flex Front bracket? And is it a Mirra 1?
A tired Mirra seat has three usual causes, and this seat only fits one generation. Check both before you order.
Sagging or torn seat mesh, or a worn-out seat pan
This renewed seat is the fix. You move your Flex Front mechanism across and the chair sits like it should again.
You find black crumbs under the chair and feel the hard frame
That is the foam under the mesh crumbling. Our Mirra 1 seat foam replaces just that, in minutes.
The front edge no longer adjusts or feels loose
The part that links the Flex Front seat to the chair's mechanism may have broken. See the Flex Front seat bracket.
Mirra 1 or Mirra 2?
This seat is for the Mirra 1 only. The Mirra 2 took over from the original Mirra in 2013, so any Mirra built before then is a Mirra 1; the date label under the seat tells you when yours was made. Still unsure? Send us a photo and we will check for you.

Searching for a Herman Miller Mirra seat pan or a seat mesh replacement? This is the complete seat, mesh included, so it covers both in one part.

Mirra 1 seat replacement: your questions
What specific tools do I need for installation?
A T40 long-handle driver or a star key wrench. Loosen the bolts by hand first to avoid stripping them.
How do I replace the mechanism?
Unbolt the Flex Front mechanism from your old seat and install it on the renewed seat with the provided screws.
Is this compatible with the Fixed Front Mirra?
No. This replacement fits only the Flex Front version of the Mirra 1. Please check your model before ordering.
Can I use a power drill to remove the seat?
We strongly advise against starting with a power drill; it is the leading cause of stripped hardware. Always break the tension by hand first.
Will it fit a Mirra 2?
No. It is made for the Mirra 1 only. The Mirra 1 or Mirra 2 guide above shows how to tell them apart.
