Steps for Replacing the Bushing:

Disassemble the Chair:

  • Begin by unscrewing the seat bolts.
  • Remove the bolts on the mechanism and then proceed to unscrew the four screws holding the back in place.
  • To access the bushings, you'll need to remove the arm yolks. The process is similar for both sides, but note that the left arm yolk has two knobs, while the right has one.

Removing the Arm Yolks:

  • For chairs with knobs, identify if you have the newer snap-out version or the older version with a hole. Be careful with the older version to avoid breakage.
  • Remove the knobs, unscrew the mechanism, and then pull out the arm yolk to access the bushing.

Replace the Bushing:

  • With the arm yolk removed, take out the old bushing.
  • Insert the new bushing in its place, ensuring it's seated properly.

Reassemble the Chair:

  • Reattach the arm yolk and secure the mechanism back onto the chair.
  • Attach the seat mechanism cover, ensuring to choose the correct version based on the number of teeth and snapping them into place.
  • Reattach any knobs or controls removed during disassembly.
  • Reinsert the seat, attaching it to the mechanism cover, then secure the mechanism and seat bolts.
  • For a secure fit, slightly tighten one side of the seat bolts before fully tightening the opposite side, then return to the first side to fully tighten.
  • Finally, reinstall the back by positioning it correctly and securing it with the four screws.
